Hello WP,

I'm here looking for strategies for daily challenges that have tripped me up since childhood, and have not lessened with age. Specifically: communication difficulties, motivation, self discipline, focus, attention, short term memory, thinking things through, sensitivity to noise, clumsiness, social difficulties, rigid ways of being and anxiety. I'm slowly self examining to decipher what is environmental and what is wiring. (self perception... also an issue)

The environmental aspect ranges from pre natal to my many 'outside the norm' life experiences. The wiring aspect comes from dogged determination failing me in the above list, and starting to consider the diversity in my families genetic pool.

I don't know what I have, and I do not want to ask that question here as its a support site, I honestly want to avail of ASD wisdom generated from shared experiences. I'll ask a professional when I've reached my own understanding.

Do I need to self categorise to give myself context in this anonymous online environment? Would it be wise?

For example, I see people with test details in their signature, and this helps me to understand their statements/comments; but i also respect and recognise the deep concerns that the ASD diagnosis is being trivialised and that (amongst other factors) online tests might feed into this.

I also have these problems, and somebody told me THIS is the forum where I can find help. I dunno.

I recommend that you read older posts to learn about these things, most of this has been covered before now, the posters here have shared their own extensive research on their individual experience of ASD and its available if you use the search function. If its urgent for you to ask first, I'm certain that someone will advise you

Are these diseases really curable? I'd almost given up; my last straw of hope lies with this forum. :(

Disease is not the correct term to use when referring to Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). I don't know how to respond to this question, except to tell you my perspective on it. I'm not here looking for a cure, I'm helping myself to the best of my abilities, (their mixed) I've wasted enough of my life and energy using all the wrong strategies. Cures, in my opinion, are for medical illnesses and not for the brain wiring you were born with. There is i believe, hope in knowing yourself and honestly recognising your capabilities and limitation, my situation is that I've had to be resourceful ;many people here have significant impairments and I do not experience their extremes. I am struggling in the areas I mentioned, an example could be that my head feels like its going to explode when I hear unexpected loud noises, my body goes to tingly jelly, it passes; but (from an example I read today) I consider the experience of vomiting from the sensation of certain textures to be an extreme.

Hi Meredithmont, I have bolded my response, apologies for any mis communication and bias on my part :) Good luck
