Hi everyone, I'm new here, so I thought I would intoduce myself. I'm not telling you my real name, but I nicknamed myself umbrellabirds, because in the disney version of Alice and Wonderland there are umbrella versions of vultures, and I have a thing for umbrellas, and I was a little obsessed with Alice and Wonderland when I was younger. I'm currently trying to get diagnosed with aspergers (or they call it high-functioning autism now, which doesn't make any real difference, but whatever). It's difficult because my mother refuses to beleive it, and she also refuses to let the rest of my family know (it makes her sad for some reason). I use a lot of parentheses in my writing (because I'm full of useless side information, and I feel the need to elaborate on things that don't need any elaboration).

Just to give you a run down on the things I'm doing now, I'm usually working on some sort of useless art project for myself (currently I'm making A LOT of origami, especially modular origami, but I've been thinking about trying curling), I read (probably too much), I'm learning Russian (slowly), I play the piano (8 years), I like to sing (not in front of people, ever), I'm terrible at spelling, and I can't think of anything else. Oh, I have two cats. I'm done now.

First I would like to welcome you to WrongPlanet :)

And about the parentheses, it is too funny, I do this allllll the time!

And whatever you do, its never "useless", you're learning something and expressing yourself. And very cool about learning Russian, there is a few languages I would really like to learn at some point (but I am always too lazy to do so), and Russian is one of them.

Again welcome to WP, and feel free to go the general discussion and post there too. And good luck.

Hi!

New here myself having just joined today (well, I only realised why I was 'different' yesterday after reading Wiki to learn what 'Aspergers' is).

Try Googling 'famous people with Apserger's'. You could show the list to your mother. That might make her view things a bit differently. You'll see such names as Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Sir Isaac Newton, Ludvig Van Beathoven, Charles Darwin, Mark Twain, Henry Ford..... to name but a few. :D

Welcome aboard. We're all used to people having side information (so you'll fit right in [I even do it myself. Sidenote within sidenote]).
