I signed up yesterday, but the account is now vanished (deleted?). Tried to restore it with password(s). Didn't work. Tried to reset password. Didn't work.

Too bad, I liked the introduction that I wrote. Not worth rewriting.

I often wonder where lost posts go. I have lost some very long ones and its hard to rewrite such things. Maybe aliens abducted it?

Indeed. Getting phpBB to work correctly isn't easy, even from the moderators' point of view.
