Greetings! I'm in my mid-40s and was diagnosed with BPD about 10 years ago. I've always felt like an outsider even as a small child. I've been reading one of Temple Grandin's books and I see so many flags popping up in my past. I don't really feel like I need an official diagnosis - but right now I'm having some odd flash backs that I think could be me trying to process this. I don't look at it as a good or bad thing - just part of the process of trying to figure out why my life has had so many challenges. When I've been reading her book it felt like someone turned the light on in a dark room. Has anyone else gone thru this? Do you have any advice? Thanks!

Hollywu,

Welcome to WP! We are glad to have you. I was the same way when reading about others with AS. I would say to definitely keep researching and finding out if you keep relating to the things that you read about. At the end, you may or may not come to a point where you would like to get a formal diagnosis. Either option is viable and you should do what feels best to you.
Would you mind sharing why you were diagnosed with Bipolar to begin with? I know for a long time I thought that I was bipolar because I would have the worst mood swings. But then after my dx I realized that it was mood swings because of outside stimuli (children) that would drain me and then I would become cranky "out of nowhere."
