Hello; I've just landed here. Until a few weeks ago I was only vaguely aware of AS.
Then I read a description of face blindness. I'd figured out by the age of 12 that
I can't tell people apart by their faces, but thought I was the only one.

I've read as much as I can on the subject since then and I've had the same sort of world-rocking experience of recognition that some others have described here. The clinical description seems to fit, but what really gets my attention is that peoples' own descriptions of what it's like to live with AS, such as being "the punchline of a joke you can't hear", aren't just things I might say about myself; they are often close paraphrases of things I have said about myself.

Also, and for me this would be conclusive if the conclusion were mine to draw, on aspie sites I get the jokes.
