Hi everyone. I'm Kip, and obviously, I'm new here.

I found out about Asperger's while researching why my lil bro won't talk at 21 months. I was reading through it just thinking... someone was stalking me while coming up with these criteria.

I've always had trouble in school. I was the brightest kid in my class, reading at grade 12 while still only 6. I've never had any problems with the work or subjects, not until I hit about 13, but I've always had trouble with the people. I would much rather play with a stick in the mud than with the other kids. My designs always drew a crowd though, so even that didn't work out the way I wanted.

I never want to party, or drink with my friends. I'd rather be up on the computer than hanging out with anything more than about 3 other people. Mum's always complained that I'm way introverted, and I suppose this is true. I know I don't understand people, so I don't even bother.

Mum's accused me of loving the cats more than my family, but she just doesn't get it. The cats... I understand them. They don't try to trick you with weird sentences, or funny faces. They just are. I don't care for looking after my brother much because he always seems to want something, but I don't know what he wants, and since he caint tell me, I really caint help him.

I love reading and writing, and have a really active imagination. It's just... I can act like I care about what you're saying, but the moment you walk away, I don't know, because I was thinking of something completly different.

I find it easier to talk to people online, because it's understood that you have to type lol for funny things, and tell people when somethings not funny at all. There's no guessing involved.

I think my teachers know I had something going on with me, because they did their best to put me off in a small group or by myself for lessons. The good thing about a small school I guess.

Hope this post gave you a bit of info about me. I like the way people act here, so I'm pretty sure I'll like it.

Hi Kip & welcome to WP.

I think you'll enjoy WP and you should find a lot of like-minded people on here.

Don't worry - not only are there lots of us with AS here, but lots of us are pretty nuts too  Just check out the "Last Person to Post Wins" thread in the Games & Off the Wall forum

I find on-line communication easier as well. It gives me time to think about what I'm saying - and there are no big pauses whilst I process the information

Once again welcome and I hope you have fun browsing the site :D

Kip,

So much of what you wrote, right down to the cats, I could have written! I too like to read, did well in school, was introverted, and had high verbal testing scores. I tend to relate much better to cats than to people, although I am very close to my family. I love logging on to my Internet cat site because the people there share common experiences with me.

Welcome to WP and keep posting.

Interesting choice of word, given that you live in Nevada and not the UK or Commonwealth.

Yea, I know. I'm not sure why... but I natually learned to spell like I was from the UK... programme, colour... all of it. Just drives mum nuts when shes reading anything I've written, because I'm about 6th or 7th generation USA.

I do that with some words... "grey" and "colour"... I just think the spelling fits better... "Gray" is too metallic... shiny. I like the "faded" feeling of the alternatives.

Hi and welcome...sounds too familiar. I was often accused of caring more about Doctor who than my mother, or whatever else was my interest of the time. I cannot affirm or deny it as I don't truly know lol.

Yeah, but some of us (well me at least) don't really understand online signals well at all. If I seem harsh, don't take it so.

Oh don't worry a bit about that, the internet is rather confusing at times. I take no offence unless someone's obviously trying to be an ass, like those '____ sucks' people.
