:( I just had to carry my son out of the gym, kicking and screaming. The child care provider came into my class with my son to inform me he had a temper tantrum because he was using scissors and was told not to. If he wasn't supposed to use them, then why were they on the table?! Dylan was inconsolable, people were staring. It is impossible to explain why a normal looking 5 year old is having a tantrum like a 2 year old. I just wanted to scream that "he has aspergers! he's not doing this because he is a bad child! I am not a bad parent!" He screamed and cried the whole way home-it made a 10 minute drive seem like hours. Today was a bad day with Dylan. I can only pray tomorrow is better.

I understand how hard it must be. My pediatrician told my mother that children who were as prone to colic (is that term even used any more?) would have troubles later. I wonder if he had some insight into an early signal of AS? You just need to feel strong, and realize that your child needs your love. Don't let your concerns for what others think interfere with your parenting. When a situation like this comes up, you might want to try and explain WHY the rules aren't always what they seem to be.

It's funny, I damn near threw a tantrum myself today. I had a test, and there was construction work going on. I simply could not think whilst the pain from the noise was in my head. It was pretty embarassing at my age.
