Hi everyone. I'm really happy to find WP and the associated chat on freenode.net so I can express myself with the keyboard to those who are similar. I am older than dirt and have been DX'e with AS or HFA (depending on which money grubbing quack I talk with) for a number of years. I refuse meds, can have a temper issue around people and love and rescue unwanted and abused birds, which have been my obsession for the past three or four years. I am happily married to and NT man who, like Mr. Rogers, loves me just the way I am and has helped me enjoy my life and NOT have to adapt too much to how the world thinks I should be. I can be nice and understanding and sympathetic or an awful smart ass and have a difficult time being able to tell the difference. I am totally apolitical and don't vote, as it makes no difference anyway. I dont use L33t anacronyms because I cant remember them! :P
Oh yes, I almost forgot to add that I really like the bird related thing (emu egg, Phoenix etc) too. That's cool.
And, I want to know if anyone can tell me why exactly aspies are supposed to like cats. I am cat-phobic. The scare the s**t out of me and other aspies seem to be horrified by this.
I have only been talking to others on the spectrum in chat for about a month so excuse me if I sound like a small child but there are alot of things I just don't know or can't remember if i did, in fact know them in the first place!

welcome birdlady,! !! (met you in irc) im pretty sure we will get along well, theres nothing wrong with sounding like a small child, sometimes grammer can foul up aspies in what word to use even thought they mean right

this is a result of the developmental stage of a reuglar person (nt) it is not same with a person having aspergers, with aspergers the milestones met by the nt are discovered late and with as its the social milestone that is latest or not totally there,

since we met in irc, you make alot of sense to me and i dont think you will have any problems. there are alot of memebers here who are int o old electronics and a few into fixing things,

hope you have fun here and you will see alot of me posting here as well (if you havent noticed already) have fun posting :D

Birdlady,

You lack respect for psycobabbling pill pushers? Cool!

I too remember when dirt came out. Lots of bird people here, and there is no explaining the cat thing, dogs, shiney objects, blue stuff, that become important to some. It is a wide range, ill defined, with no cause, treatment, cure, it seems to be an Other catagory. Free Form Syndrome.

I have been having fun here. To old to have anything but Like/Dislike as a life guide.

Welcome, hope to see you about the threads.

This is what I get for checking this section last. I was wondering what type of hat that is you have on. Is it a conyer? My wife got one after we parted, and it looks similar.

Oh yeah, welcome. (not good with formalities and all)

Is that a Lovebird on yer noggin ??

Yay, another ASpie who likes pets other than kitties. Don't get the whole kitty thing, myself. I hafta shoo the neighbor's cat away from the birdseed block I put in our front yard.

I yell "Shoo Wicked Cat"! !

(Neighbor already knows I'm eccentric.)

Ahhh. I have a bb gun.
But it's set on stun!

Please dont terrorize me Professor. I failed calculus and cried in class at the age of 35... That was all the terror I have ever needed.

That is a dual black masked lovebird hat! The pic is small but there are 2 of them up there. They were found nearly starved to death in an abandoned apartment. My vet gave them to me.

Hello birdlady and welcome! I think the cat analogy comes from "herding cats." Well, you can't. And we don't herd well either.

I need new glasses. Can't see the face too well. Also need to go to a hat store soon.

Ah yes, well then, I promise to not terrorize you. Calculus is trauma enough.

I knew that was a Lovebird, the Missus has a Lutino Peachface, and a standard Peachface. The female laid an egg, but wasn't tending to it, so we had to remove it. We did this as instructed by bird keepers. She had gotten quite vicious guarding her cage. The male, though has always been very friendly. They do have a nasty bite for such a small bird.
