Hi, everyone! I'm new here, obviously. I'm a woman, in my late 20s, and I was just recently diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (I still don't have the full report from the assessment) - it was first brought up to me well over a year ago but I didn't really know anything about Asperger's/ASDs so dismissed it at first. Until I talked to a friend who said they can present differently in women so I spent...a lot of time researching and so much of what I read fit (or I felt it fit).
However, as my subject may indicate, I'm still quite uncertain about the diagnosis. I'm happy with it, but because I don't remember my childhood and because a lot of my symptoms* could be other things, too, I'm still a bit, well, uncertain and second guessing a lot. I suppose that I'm happy with the diagnosis is enough, though.
Anyway, I joined up because I'm not really talking about this elsewhere in my life, yet (I'm not quite comfortable discussing it until I get used to it a bit more, if that makes sense) so thought it would be nice to at least have some sort of outlet. I'm not really sure what else to say about myself, though. I'm not comfortable using my real name at present but you can call me Wednesday, if you like.
*this isn't the word I want, really, but it's the closest my brain is providing, right now.
