I'm a 30 year old female from the west coast.

I was a late talker and started drawing mice before I started talking at the age of four. My mom said I almost made the medical books back in oh I'd say 1990 because I was most likely an autistic female. Autism back then was thought to be a males' disorder. I could be mistaken about that "fact" though. According to my mother a whole table full of doctors got into a shouting match over what was wrong with me.

When I was in Kindergarten my teacher freaked out over my "austism". She had seen some Rain Man movies which potrays austitic people in poor light. The teacher actually was wanting to use some of the remedies shown in that movie to "tame" me. I never have seen the movie and I can't remember what my mom said those remedies were.

That kindergarten teacher continued to treat me like a walking vegetable who might attack another student. I was walked to the bathroom and shown pictures of toilets on flash cards since I was presumed to have to be reminded what a toilet was.

My first grade teacher was too lazy to teach me so she had her aide take me out of the classroom and show me where to draw the lines to and what to circle ect. However I think I still learned how to read in first grade. I honestly don't remember learning how to read. I guess that's the case with most people.

My second grade teacher and fourth grade teacher were smarter and knew I was smart. They wouldn't let me take the easy route. Unfortunately for them I was used to the easy route so I was a pain in the butt. Poor teachers.

I never did get good grades in school which is due to me being lazy. I was very smart and would study things that fascinated me to death. I just hated doing homework on things that didn't interest me.

My social skills suck. I started glaring at everyone in high school so I didn't have very many friends. Even today I'm still very immature for my age. I don't make eye contact very good and I tend to wander down rabbit trails. In fact I know I'm probably pulling some forum social faux pas for having such a long post here.

Anyways that's all for now. I look forward to being on this site.
