new here and have autism

I am new here and believe I always had autism. I had a knack for music and now am learning languages on my own. I was a professional violinist for 20 years before I switched fields and became interested in science. I graduated from medical school and did an internship for a year. I am not practicing now. I am now learning Japanese on my own and have passed the Japanese Language Proficiency Test level 1 after five years of studying. I am becoming a medical translator in Japan. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder when I was 28 years old. I have had setbacks due to not being compliant with medication. But now, I am striving to remain compliant and take my medication daily. I am doing well now. I am very social on the Internet. However, in person I am quite shy. I have had difficulties making friends because of this. I am alone but not lonely though. I am happy the way I am and don't want to change. I am striving to work as a medical translator now. I don't expect much initially. I am hoping eventually to make enough to make ends meet. I hope to hear from others!

We have a few people, here, who are interested in languages----I don't know how many speak Japanese, though.....

We have a couple of MDs.....

We also have a few music aficionados----including at least ONE person who composes music.....

I'm sure you'll fit right-in, here!!

hi. welcome. i, too have an MD and am not practicing, partly due to autism and mental illness. i love music, have played folk guitar, tuba, and violin. am taking time off from our local chorale due to school schedule. best of luck to you in medical translating. sounds like a good career for you.

Wow reading about all you do with your life is motivating and exciting! Makes me want to do more - but I am kind of lazy and I have two kids who keep me really busy.
