My 7-year-old daughter was recently diagnosed with AS. I can't say it was a surprise -- I'd suspected something was up for years -- but it was still a surprise to learn the truth. I'll be writing some questions I have down below in the Parents' Discussion. In the meantime, I want to thank you for all that you share here; you help me understand my daughter better. I want to be the best I can be for my amazing girl so that she can be the best she can be, difficulties notwithstanding.

Hello and welcome - I have aspergers and my daughter 16 my son 12 and my daughter's boyfriend 17 are all Aspies and all have a lot of anxiety. I tend to ask more question than I give advice, but I hope I can help you.

My wife is neurotypical (NT) god bless her for enduring us and loving us so wonderfully.

sorry for asking, but is you husband an Aspy to or anyone in either family? I first found out that I was when we took our daughter to have her evaluated. The psychologist told us the diagnosis and the symptoms and asked if either of us
showed signs. I knew right then and it caused me to struggle a lot for a few years, then I started therapy without a diagnosis, but I actually had a better handle on things when I had an evaluation and determined for sure.

Thanks for writing. It was not until we were going through the assessment process that my husband realized that his mother had been an Aspie. He'd always just thought his mother was kooky (not in a bad way); and he'd always said that my daughter was just like her. I see shades of something -- mostly terrible EF skills -- in both my husband and his adult son, but not, I don't think, ASD.

Heya! It's me, the smiley sunshine girl! Welcome! *big smile* 8) :sunny: My dad, three uncles, and grandmother are also Aspergians, so it definitely runs in the family.
