I am also new here. I've not been diagnozed, but am planning to have this done. Actually I realized that I might be an Aspie after the suggestion came up that my son (almost 12) could be an Aspie. All the reading that I have done has led me to assume that I could also be an Aspie! Well, we live in Germany. I am a single mother of 3 kids. I'll be 44 soon and my kids are almost 8, almost 10 and almost 12. I work as a translator for English and Icelandic and as a tutor for English on a frellance basis. This is sometimes hard work and requires a lot of organization, but the kids are great at coping with this chaotic lifestyle.
I have always had problems coping with other people and have gotten divorced twice because the marriages just would not work! I can cope with the kids, however, quite well (normally - if everything goes more or less according to plan). I am a perfectionist and often spend hours doing things that probably could be done a lot quicker if I would not be so picky about the results. I love music and play the guitar and the piano. I also love singing. I hate, however, to play in front of people. I'm not good enough for that.
I studied in the US (Washington State University) and loved it there. Unfortunately I could not get a job there, so I had to leave again. I hated Germany at first, but have gotten used to living here now.
Well, I hope to meet some new interesting people at this site and also to get some help on coping with my "problems" and with the problems of my son - which I often make me feel totally helpless
