Hello there,

First time joining any kind of forum so I'm not entirely sure what to expect, but am hoping to occasionally drop by, and perhaps get to know others like myself.

Considering the latter requires background information about me, I'll summarise: I'm 24, male, have Asperger's, anxiety, and depression.

Thank you,

Hello sir!

Welcome to WP, and forums in general. I myself have found this place to be quite helpful, I hope you can have a similar experience.

You may understand why my username is thus when you read it! Are you fond of Murakami's works? Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World is fascinating in my opinion - and all the more insightful, I think, when one is able to draw parallels between the subtle symbolic gestures he hints at (through conceptual or literal means) and various essays and works on dream interpretation.

Thank you everyone for the very nice welcome!

Well I most certainly have a penchant towards the idea of "Philosophical fiction", your La Nausée's, your Brave New World's, your The Fountainhead's ... you get the gist I'm sure, but don't confine myself to purely this kind of fiction. For instance, I greatly admire authors such as J.G.Ballard, Philip K Dick, and Anthony Burgess - I mean, come on, A Clockwork Orange is the archetype of good fiction - which, I believe, would place me in the science fiction lover's category also.

Regarding purely philosophical works ... I don't feel I could accurately gauge any kind of preference - my reading so far in the field is by no means extensive, but greatly admired the stack of Kierkegaard I've been through, Rousseau too has enticed my interest, and am soon moving on to Kant.

EDIT: My oh my, why is it I always miss what's right in front of me - or in this case the my obvious favourite author[s]. Franz Kafka! Of course! And I also adore Murakami's works too.

I have not read any of his books yet but I intend to eventually! I think I also have norwegian wood lying around in a pile somewhere, you certainly have stated a compelling case for me to get around to perusing his stuff!

I have a clockwork orange on my desk right now, I keep dipping in and out of it every few weeks, it's a bloody marvelous tale. ''What's it going to be then, eh???'' :D
