Hi everyone. I am new here. Someone from imgur told me about this site. I am a mom of 8 year old twins. My son has severe autism and my daughter is diagnosed with PDD. I don't know what to say really....

My son has severe behavior problems, including self injurious behavior. It has gotten really bad lately. We have tried medicine after medicine, and nothing is working. I secretly wish I lived in Colorado so I can get him on some cannabis oil. His OT has recently mentioned sending him to an inpatient program for a few months. :evil: I don't want to do that. I feel like there is more I can do for him here at home. Thing is we are broke. We live on one income so I can take care of the kids. My son is on a limited school schedule and there are no places here that will watch him after school because at 8 years old he still isn't potty trained.

I recently set up a gofundme page in hopes I can get his room set up to have more sensory equipment in it. Swing, weighted blankets, chew tubes, learning toys, etc.

I hope to get to know you guys. Thanks for letting me join.

Hi, welcome to WP. I hope you find some answers soon. Is your son seeing a children's psychologist or counselor?

No. He does not have much language to talk to counselors. He gets speech therapy and occupational therapy.

That makes sense. Some people who harm themselves hold ice as an alternative. Could that work for him? Also, any hope with art/music therapy to help him express himself?
