Hello, I'm 34, from New Zealand.
I don't known if I am autistic or not. In 1992, in my first year at university, I was diagnosed with depression. I underwent therapy and medication for several years, but eventually became disenchanted with the mental health industry and now have nothing to do with them.
Recently, I was reading about Asperger's Syndrome on Wikipedia and I wondered if it wasn't a more accurate diagnosis than depression.
I don't smile or laugh very much, I don't talk a great deal. When I talk with people I don't look them in the eye. I don't have any friends. I briefly had a girlfriend in 1991, but she dumped me because I am ugly. I have never had an intimate relationship.
I tried to kill myself when I was 14, and last year after a major depressive episode had my first attempt at self mutilation.
I work in television, a job that requires me to be alone for long periods of time and doesn't require a great deal of interaction, but it does require alot of concentration and attention to detail, as well as technical knowledge. I also live alone and am not close to my family.
