Just a post to introduce myself , i live in the UK have 3 sons 24yr, 22yrs & 6yrs . My youngest was dx last year but we'd suspected for a long time that they may be something but all his little quirks was just part of who he was (yes they still are) but at least now I can understand them better after a lot of reading about AS & places like this forum , so we can deal with them better. It doesn't make the sleepless nights a lot easier ( never slept through) but at least I don't feel so much of a failure that I couldn't get my 6yr old to sleep all night. Although we told the school of his AS a year ago they have only just agreed with the DX as the structure & routine at school suit him ,as in their opinion he was a lovely child to teach , now as his peers social skills are progressing they highlight my sons problems. I'm angry that its taken my son having a real problem with bullying to get this far but at least now he should get the support he needs at school.
The more I find out about AS the more my sons ways make sense, but its early days & I'm still learning something new each day. I do worry about the future , especially when he goes to senior school but I'm hoping that this forum will point me in the right direction when dealing with problems & just being able to share the joys & trials of having an Aspie kid will be a great help.
