I was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder and dysthymia (chronic mild depression) last January. I used to think my diagnosis meant I could meet other like minded individuals but I've come to realize there is more diversity on the spectrum than with neurotypicals. I'm a social chameleon compared to most and I try to surround myself with friends but sometimes it's still hard not to feel lonely.

^^^^^hi there EA :) welcome to our club 8)
my fave quote on the emotional theme you brought up, is this-
You are a terribly real thing in a terribly false world, and that, I believe, is why you are in so much pain.” ― Emilie Autumn, The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls

Stick to reading tabloids and you'll be just fine.. unless this pervasive option persuades you otherwise..

I've probably met a dozen or two by now from my local autism chapter and yeah, it's harder to find stuff in common with them than with most people. I made one friend from it though, but she's NT and married to an aspie guy ><
