My name is Craig, and I come from the The Garden of England; otherwise known as Kent, in the UK. Although how it became known as a garden of any sorts is beyond me!
As of this post I am 23 years old, and was diagnosed as having AS, at the age of seven. I have an NT twin-sister called Annabelle, and my father Paul, both of whom have always been extremely supportive; as was my late mother Catherine, who we sadly lost to cancer midway through December, having only just turned 53 the month prior.
Up until then, I had been doing a degree for several years. However struggles of my own at university, combined with my mothers ailing health, led me to make the decision, that a different path was needed. These two challenging events together are why I decided to join; not that I'm short of support from family and friends at all.
But onto happier matters. Some of you may be wondering about my username? Well I've always loved hard rock music, and heavy metal. Especially when there are elements of electro thrown into the mix as well. And recently my favourite artist Klayton, best known as Celldweller (but also known as Circle of Dust, and Scandroid), released a brutally cool industrial metal/electro track, called "alt_Human". Given the theme of this site, and that sometimes having AS can make you feel not quite human, the name seemed fitting.
Speaking of interests, dominant interests are a defining characteristic of Asperger syndrome. And mine is definitely my love for cars, and motor sport. I've been closely following the world of F1 racing since I was about five. (I have a great story to tell about that sometime, but don't want to make this post too long). So if that's your sort of thing as well, and you fancy waxing lyrical about it, don't be afraid to hit me up!
I'm also rather into games as well, although I can't really call myself a hardcore gamer, as there's a lot of classics I haven't played.
Anyhow I've got a lot more to say about myself but, if I don't stop now, I never will!
So with that, thanks for reading, and I look forward to being part of this community.
