I need support and direction. SO may I join all of you?
I am a SAHM of 2. My oldest has AS.
He will be 7 this week and I am having a hard time helping him.
He has tantrums -meltdowns to the extreme, some days-and then for the most part he is just fantastic.
We have implemented a CF/GF/Soy Free diet. We also use homeopathy and see an applied kinesologist practioner/nutritionalist.
I have a first cousin who is HF/AS. I teater on the vax issue and genetics for my family.
He loves to read read read all he can on almost any subject-right now the Canbrain period, and anything to do with Oil Pump Jacks. Encyclopedias are his books of choice. He is an amazing child. I love him dearly. I am havign a hard time with adults now who do no t embrace my child or engage in a conversation with him. They talk down to him-blow him off-roll eyes, when he could in fact teach some of them something!
I desperatley need help with is social skills. I have ISpeak and Carol Grays book but feel lost!
Support groups for me locally are a drive, but I am going to one next month.
We always knew he was diffferent, from a very young age. We just thought he was gifted causing the delayed Motor skills and other idiosynchrasis that come along with what we know now as AS and being gifted.
I just need to know how to help him beside the OT/PT regular stuff.
SO I am off to search the boards for help...
