Hello there -- here comes yeat another new member to these forums: I'm a 36-year-old man from Denmark in northern Europe, and my Aspie diagnose is so new it's still warm to the touch. I knew a bit about Asperger's years before my formal DX though, and was well aware that I sure fit on some of those traits (especially the "nerdiness" and the socializing issues).

Being raised in a world that hadn't (yet) "invented" the AS diagnose, I coped with what I have instead of that illusive "social compass": A good head for logic, learning the social "ropes" with the same "mental circuitry" that others use for learning their ABCs and how to multiply large numbers using only pen and paper. So much so that now that I work in a place with plenty of aspies, I have to keep some "nasty NT habits" I've picked up along the way, in check (such as speaking in metaphores).

I've been lurking here for the past few weeks, and I must say that one thing is the clarification that comes with a DX (self- or otherwise), but simply getting a peek into the lives of folks fighting some of the same battles as I, has been a real relief -- and I hope to participate here in an equally constructive and supportive way... :D

Welcome to WP!
My dad was from Denmark.
I have worked with other aspies and didn`t realise or appreciate it until moving somewhere full of NTs.
Still I get to speak to lots of `normal`people here on WP :D

Thanks for a warming welcome -- I suspected this would happen, but as implied above, it took a while of "lurking time" to figure out that you guys don't bite...

Welcome to WP Scramjet! I love your esoteric screenname, with full appreciation. I too am a dino aspie, raised before AS (existed).

Check out my blog entries on this site, may help in defining the AS thingaroo!

Hello and welcome aboard, Scramjet:

It's good to know you made time to lurk around our forum and found out something
about guys and gals (is there an informal Danish idiom for "men and women"?) like us.
I, too, lived my childhood and young adulthood before the diagnosis of Asperger's
Syndrome was even part of the language.
