Went for a psyc evaluation for bariatric surgery. Yes I am enormously FAT if you want to stop reading now. The psyc was angered that I had never been diagnosed as have been going to therapists etc for 30 years. I exp that most of the had been social workers per what my insurance pays for. He suggested strongly I seek out an AS friendly psycologist or himself so I could get the information that would help me cope with this better. I am rather bummed I have AS but it sure EXPLAINS a great many many things in my life. I feel like someone turned the light on for the very first time.

Glad I found this place...

Welcome to WP!

Now why would we want to stop reading just because you're fat?

It's what's inside that counts.

I'm glad you've been diagnosed. It makes life easier when you know there are others like you ... and you can hang out with them on WP.

I have been reading 'Songs of the Gorilla Nation' by Dawn Prince-Hughes. I am still constantly flummoxed by the similarities of my experiences. I know WHY I did and do the things I do and feel. Knowing this is just the way I am wired I feel like someone has lifted a weight the size of the earth off my back. I did some very typical things on an outing to home depot that angers my husband often. I told him I did not mean to do (or not do) these things I honestly cannot help it and for the first time he seemed to understand. Maybe because I could understand his frustration at least somewhat better. I don't know how he feels about knowing that I am an ASPIE but he seems to be taking it ok.
