Hi my name is Ronald,
I have just joined this website because another member told me about this forum. I am on a journey about changing how people understand piano music theory. I want to eradicate chord & scale S-P-E-L-L-I-N-G if possible. Maybe start piano lessons for the visually impaired... in the coming months. Hoping this forum will be a good start to introduce myself.

You should post in the music section. They would understand you well.

Welcome to WP

I find what you are trying to do as extremely interesting. I had music theory and chords and stuff drummed into me when I was young and it totally made me unable to actually play well - as music - and not just notes. About two or three years ago, I picked up the banjo and just started playing and teaching myself and recently have noticed I can put some actual "music" into what I play. Go for it!

I feel you will be a very welcome presence on WrongPlanet, Ronald.

Where in Quebec do you reside?

"Thanks blazingstar for your welcoming.
I find traditional music theory has "Slave Management Thinking" embedded in it.... I see a braille notation of sheet music, which has been arrayed so wide, that most are lost in the trees of an endless forest. I am glad you got enjoyment from your banjo playing. It is imperative for me to unlock the mystery of piano chord-scale relationship without removing the wonderment; of the improvisational piano reflex. Thank-you blazingstar for your support and encouragement.

Thank-you all for your comments

I know Montreal! It is the city I always get lost in! :-) Are you bilingual or a native French speaker? Or did you get caught up in the decades when you were forbidden to use French in school? I pass through Montreal on my way to canoe trips in Quebec.

I love what you said about music theory and it backs up my experiences. Just the other day the bass line of the Am, G, F, C popped out and I "got" it. That was such a minor thing in the big world of music, but I was thrilled to "discover" it experientially.

Hi blazingstar
No Quebec taught Persian French in English School. My parents spoke English with strong German accent. Hollywood gave us kids the strong incentive to drop any trace of German origin. TV Hogans Heroes, & Combat come to mind. German soldiers die very quickly on the big screen... thought it was a blood-clotting problem for awhile. My language skills are poor.

(Music theory)

When I play my "self piano reflex grids", the voicings are really awful, but band-in-a-box loves the choral embedded chord structures from these reflex grids. It gives more freedom to explore improvisational progressions.
