Hiya, I'm new to WP, new to the whole thing really as I only just got diagnosed last month.

It's a bit weird considering how to introduce myself. I've never had any problems discussing what's in my head, but now I actually "fit in a box" it's made me more hestitant in how I would describe myself. Before, the phrases "weird", "odd", "different" and "mad" slipped glibly off my tongue and I felt comfortable with such labels, but now I worry that I may offend other Aspies by using them (I'm fairly sure "aspie" is fine). It's like spending my whole life thinking I was the only person who hit balls with sticks... only to find out it's called "golf", loads of people do it and that my trousers are unacceptable.

I probably exhibit a whole myriad of behaviours you're all very familiar with so I'm not going to list them like I invented them. I can't really say what my "interests" are because I don't get much joy out of anything these days, I just bury myself in something technical between leaving work and going to bed, but in the past they have included DJing, spinning fire, celtic art and martial arts. I live alone and would define my relationship status as "cats", as I have two.

Anyway, I'll leave it at that as it characterises me fairly well (long-winded, self-contradictory and making jokes about stuff which actually gets to me) and will hopefully meet some of you on various threads/discussions.

Welcome to WP, and I'm also older. Quite a few older ones are on this site.

Welcome to WP, AndyBeans.

If it weren't for self-deprecating gallows humour, I would have given up on life decades ago! :D
Don't get too hung up about the language; it gets debated here quite a bit; and the only consensus is that there's never likely to be a consensus. Opinions vary widely, and some are more widely held than others; but most folks here accept that the message is more important than the medium. Use whatever you're happy identifying yourself by.

 Love it! I'm warming to you already!

I could go on (...and on, and on; whatever talents I might have, brevity is not among them). Fortunately for you, I must now prepare for an expedition into the "outside world"; which has saved you from any more of my long-windedness or self-contradiction!
