Hello, I'm an 38 years old aspien women from Montreal.

I was officially diagnosed with asd and adhd a bit less than a year ago. I always kind of knew in the back of my mind, but never felt like I needed a diagnostic. Until last summer, after a serie of social failures, I noticed that my coworkers were actually avoiding me. Then I escaped to my department, when I'm always alone, where I had a short, but really painful meltdown. After I picked myself up (several days after), I decided that I didn't want to go on like that anymore. I have now been in therapy to help me with my social skills, I feel like it helps.

I'm actually a really nice person if you take the time to know me :D

I like video games, fishing and japanese, specifically in that order :D

Well, nice to meet you all.

Welcome to Wrong Planet, Nydcat.

There are many of us here who's late-diagnosis came, like yours, after decades of knowing that there was something there, but which only became critical when the demands of life caught up with them and left them in a position of feeling that they could no longer cope. Long prior histories of poor self-esteem and/or recurrent mental illness are, sadly, all too common. I'm glad to hear that you're receiving some therapy which you find helpful - and I hope that you find WP helpful too, as I have certainly done.

Best wishes.

Hello Nydcat,

Greetings from York, UK :)week

I've just found this site, I'm liking it so far :)

I turned 44 last Monday and next Saturday I have a doctors appointment to ask for a referral. It seems a lot of us are getting diagnosed in our 30's and 40's. I definitely identify as an aspie woman even though aspie isn't a diagnosis now but I'd be proud to have it :)

Take care
