I was browsing around the web for an ASD group resource and this looks like a great place to connect with the "tribe". Awhile ago, my wife had said to me she felt like she was in the wrong family growing up. I added "I felt like I was on the wrong planet". She didn't think I should be telling that to many people, lol. So when I saw the name I knew I had found my tribe.

My Bio:
Read about Asperger's in college (late 1970's). Seemed like I probably had it, but haven't really been open about it till recently. Have always had very marginally relationships but always somehow connected with people just enough to stay functional. Happy to see the tribe is finding each other in the internet age.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. I didn't find out I was an aspie until two years ago. Finally, what happened to me in my life all made sense.

Are you aware of the local in-person support groups on Long Island and in Manhattan?

- AANE-NY (professional-led)
- Aspies for Social Success (peer-led)

Additionally, I host a small, as-yet-unpublicized peer-led self-help group in Queens. PM me if you are interested.

Welcome!

I stayed on Long Island around 7 years ago. I was in a hotel which was some old grand mansion house (from a famous family who's name I now forget) converted. It was interesting travelling in a taxi from there into downtown Manhattan on the final day as you saw the changes in affluence and scenery.
