I've only been diagnosed in the last year so I've spent most of my life developing strategies to fit into the regular world. While I agree with the diagnosis and it's made sense of a lot of the difficulties I've faced I guess I still don't really identify with being on the spectrum. I really struggle to maintain meaningful friendships and I'm constantly disappointed in people.
I'm high functioning and groups in my area aren't really set up for that.

Hi Ade and welcome ! Good to have you with us. I moved over to the UK from Australia and love it here. Hope life’s treating you well, though sorry to hear that people seem to always be disappointing you. WP’s a good place to find like-minded people.
