Hello folks,

I am new to the forum and newly diagnosed. Starting Uni in the fall. So nervous about trying to find study buddies and build connections.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. What are you going to study at the university? Starting college at age 38, combined with being on the spectrum, may provide some challenges in finding study buddies and building connections.

In the States, they have sororities. There are many types, but some are strongly focused on academics. Both my daughters were in academic focused sororities while they were in college. It was almost like instantly having study buddies and connections to university life.

Hi and a very warm welcome to you, drin :)! Starting Uni at any age is exciting! Like Jimmy, would love to hear what you'll be studying! Wish you all the best and hope you make some firm study buddies and friends there. When I went to Uni in my 20s, there were ladies of all ages, even some in their 50s embarking on a new career path. I loved Uni life and found I missed it when holidays/breaks came round ... was really in my element. Hope it's the same for you. Challenges were naturally of a social nature, but even if you just find one other person to bond with, it can make a huge difference. I used to drive an acquaintance who worked in the same field as I did to Uni, and we became great friends. It was a happy coincidence that we wound up both going to the same Uni, studying the same subjects at the same time!
