I am a mature-aged Aspergian who prefers his pals online as I only get into trouble with face-to-face contact. My interests are varied. However, I am a painter of pictures of landscapes and imaginary creatures. I prefer the hands-on approach with paint & brushes as I was trained at a college of art when such things were common.
Although I am fit I do have serious issues with skin cancer which gives me real problems with sensory overload as I have to take some dreadful medications which makes my blood cytotoxic, that is, dangerous to others with contact. As well, I have to be constantly busy to keep my mind off the stinging sensations I endure.
My sense of humour is direct 8O & I do not like sarcasm.
Cats are my pet of choice & I love gardening. The Coronavirus has interrupted my life as it has for everyone & I make the best out of it as I am a lone wolf. However, that does not mean I do not care about others; it just means I prefer people who are more self-contained & have interests to keep them busy.
I will answer any replies. Thank you for reading. I have a YouTube channel where I discuss my life with Asperger's.

Welcome to WP. I think you find some nice people here and, with luck, occasional casual but somewhat interesting discussions.

I see we are both about the same age. You will find there are a number of WP regulars in our age group.

Thank you for those that have responded. I will look everyday, usually late at night Eastern Standard Time Australia & join some other threads as time goes by. Xmas does my head in, the noise & business of it. After the Covid-19 lockdowns have diminished suddenly the place is full of noise. Are there any really noise-sensitive Aspies here? I use earphones, I hide, but still?
I find as I age my masking has come down. I cannot, will not tolerate rude, overbearing, & surly people. For years these crazymakers interfered in my life. As I am on chemotherapy I have to deal with the local hospital. They know I am ASD, but still ignore it & wonder why there are complaints? I do not care any more.
I tend to be a loner, but it has been suggested that I try these forums as I might stop talking altogether. I could, if younger, volunteer to go to Mars, ALONE, & set up camp - I would not go mad, even accepting I would eventually die from the intense radiation. But like all pipe dreams that has been shelved.
Thank you for responding & later I will interact with everyone who has answered me - Cheers

Welcome to Wrong Planet! Skin cancer and a treatment of cytotoxic drugs; that sounds rough.

Someone called Alex has sent me a hello, but I cannot find the person. Have you used your real name instead of your account name?

Could be the gentleman who owns the site as he is Alex. Take a look in your private message box. It is next to the "Log out" box on the top rigjt of the screen if it is the same as mine. It may say 0 new messages. Click on it anyway. It goes to the message screen.

Yes, my mistake which shows you how social I am. Oh, I can talk to people but I seldom engage, do you understand? Does anyone? I am an Aspie & I have missed the boat in social engagement. I never did friends. This is because of my ASD but also because I suffered at the whims of manipulative people who ranged from sadistic to narcissistic. However, part of me is reaching past the hurt as I see that this whole world is hurting badly. It is not just Covid-19, but a failure to make the world work better. I see a lot of stupid about.

Thank you Mountain Goat. From Wales? The land of my forefathers. My father was a taciturn Welsh type who belted me till I could not scream as a kid. He had Asperger's & was as black & white as a Welsh coal miner, in attitude. I have discovered black & white thinking is very Aspergian, as is depression, & a handful of other mental comorbidities. Life is difficult. Still is as I age, I do not seem to be getting any better. I often wonder if it is a memory problem for our type of autism, that is, we do not remember where the abuse has come from.

What or who is Emu-Egg? It seems to be under my name? Is there an Emu-Egg? Or is it the way this site works? I do not mind as I like the big birds, I live in their country after all. Watching a mob of Emus is remarkable; one can see the dinosaur connection. And they have killed people, like Cassowaries they kick your insides out with talons hard as steel. So, what are people doing? I am trying my best to avoid Xmas. I will watch reruns of my favourite movies from Lord of the Rings to Hannibal the Cannibal - a cheerful Xmas movie.
As I have no one to buy gifts for I am allowed to buy myself some things. I bought a new set of noise-reducing earphones, some skin protection gear called Sparms & Neck Gaiters, & some unusual seeds (Moon Flower, Red Cardinal which are vines) with some ruffled zinnias which look more like dahlias. And some art materials so I could paint through the season. I bought a load of paper so heavy it must be nearly 50kg! Certainly felt like it, reminded me of a bag of cement. For Xmas the TV will be off all news, so should a comet be ready to strike--and wouldn't that be nice--you people could tell me. Although I think we would all know. The lockdowns have been eased in Australia although not to overseas visitors, they won't be allowed for some months yet. Few cases in my area but enough to close down the hospital to all but emergencies. How is everyone? A lottery win? Death in the family? A new pet? I await your response.

Oh. The Emu egg thing? That thing changes as you post more. It goes up in stages until you reach a vet. (However it is spelt).

Sorry to hear that your Dad did that.

I am doing ok... I am alive and well. A bit nurvous so I avoid most larger shops... But ok... :)

Mountain Goat do you subscribe to any of the train spotters on YouTube? I subscribe to Charlie's Trains #ActuallyAutistic he is very Asperger's with a singular focus & speech issues. I have similar speech problems, I can read a script but if I start talking I can run too fast for most people & my words run together. Then I begin to stim :? Such is life. I sometimes wish I was not autistic but that gets one nowhere. Anyone ever tried EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing)? I need to try & get over some of my cPTSD - my thoughts are repetitive.
