Hello Everyone,

I've just joined this site after it's recommendation in a book I've just started, which I will finish asap, although not a reader normally, & post my views, excellent reading so far for the late diagnosed Aspie.

Currently coming out of what can only be described as a meltdown, a 2/3 week period of living hell, on meds that I should think about coming off soon & slowly, I don't do pharma meds at all but this episode was serious to my health.

I'm 58, live on my own, have family nearby, diagnosed about 3 years ago, didn't do anything about it, nobody wanted to listen, I should have addressed it & therefore would not be in the mess I'm in right now, although levelling out & improving.

I hope to stay & eventually contribute to this site as I have found very little else out there, at least we should understand each other, enjoy the rest of the holidays :)

Welcome to WP! I'm of a similar age but to me, age doesn't matter a whit. I don't feel a day over 35 and act like someone in their 20s or early 30s.

I was diagnosed at 45. It gets better. Finally you begin to understand everything that went before and all the pieces gel together. I wish I'd known many years before. What a journey its been!

Hope you enjoy the forums and will start posting on the ones you like best and get to know our fellow Planetarians.

Welcome to WP! I think you will find some nice people here.

I was diagnosed in 2019 at age 64. I live in the U.S., where we use DSM-5, so my official diagnosis is Autism Spectrum Disorder, Level 1 (Mild) but the psychologist who assessed me also noted that I met the criteria for "what was previously known as Asperger's Syndrome."
