Hi, my name is Blake. I'm a 24 year old guy and I have Asperger's along with a wide array of mental health issues including agoraphobia, OCD, depression, social anxiety disorder and paranoia. I had to drop out of public school in eighth grade because of my mental issues so It's difficult for me to interact in social settings and I have trouble making friends. Shortly after dropping out I got my GED with the intent of getting a job but it's very difficult for me to leave the house on certain days. My agoraphobia makes it nearly impossible for me to drive, so I have no license. I live with my family in Atlanta and I help around the house, especially with our pets (four guinea pigs, one ball python, one Mexican red-knee tarantula, and an English mastiff). I like listening to music and drumming, and on the rare occasion that I do leave my house, I like to walk on trails where there are minimal crowds and sight-see. I hope that by joining this forum I can make friends and gain insight into my life..

Thank you for reading, I hope everyone is having a good day today.

Hi and welcome, Blake :). Love that you clearly enjoy your pets. Having a dog helped make it easier for me to leave my house at times in the past when agorophobia crept in. Took continually pushing myself out that door to
come out the other side of it and gain confidence back. Hope you’re doing alright today. Good to have you with us.

Hello and welcome, Blake!

I have Agoraphobia and Scopophobia, so I can relate very much to what you're experiencing. I also have tons of pets, a music studio, and a drum kit in my house, although I don't play drums myself. My daughter is 24!

I look forward to getting to know you!

Thank you, IsabellaLinton! I've never met anyone else with agoraphobia, it can be such a strange experience. That sounds pretty awesome that you have a music studio. I'm sorry if I'm replying to my own thread too much, but I just want to thank everyone for their kind words. I'm glad I found this place.

Welcome, Blake!

Spiders are cool. I wanted to add that I never kill a spider if I find one in the house. In fact, I ignore it. Live and let live!

Spiders are our ally against the insects.

I think spiders are not insects at all, but arachnids. No?

Thank you all for the kind words, it really means a lot to me and I appreciate it. Gentleman Argentum, you're right, spiders belong to the class Arachnida, which can include scorpions, vinegaroons, ticks, mites, and a bunch of other strange creatures, like the order of arachnids called Ricinulei, or the hooded tick spiders. They have no eyes and can raise and lower a sort of "hood" over their front. Very bizarre.

Thank you again for your words, everyone. It really does help and I appreciate it :)

"vinegaroons"--That's a new one for me. I had to look it up.
