Hi, I'm Vera:) I'm 24, soon to be 25... found out that I am autistic when I was about 20. I'm still learning new things about myself every day through this new lens, and finding new ways to cope with my differences. Discovering that I am autistic has had a tremendously positive effect on my life, though, as it explains so many things I never understood about myself before.

I just found this forum randomly causing I was googling whether Emily Dickinson was possibly autistic and found a forum post here about it lol.. but I thought this was a cool looking community, and it has been a hot minute since I've been on a forum. I'd love to make some friends while I am here, the world out here is lonely for the neurodiverse.

As far as who I am and my interests and all that... This is my first year as an elementary art teacher, which in hindsight was a blessing of a career choice to make before I even knew I was autistic. I am also a digital artist & mostly draw my own original characters. I love vampires, sharks, and all kinds of art/music. I grew up in Appalachia (North GA/East TN) & am very into music/art/history from that region. Do we have anything in common? Even if we don't I still love talking to new people.

Hello and welcome. I'm loving your face and I love Emily Dickinson too. I also taught visual art once upon a time. Hope you fasten your seatbelt and enjoy the ride here. It's a fun place. I stumbled in when I googled to find out if I was the only person in the world who despises Daylight Savings (sunlight). It had just ended and I was a very happy camper. Turns out there are lots of other freaks like me who only come out in the dark.

You talked about Emily Dickinson. I suspect there have been many neurodiverse people throughout the ages. They existed long before they put names to our unique talents and ways of thinking.

Humans are some of the most complex creatures that have ever existed in this world and perhaps the entire universe.
