Hello there everyone!

My name's Chris. I live in Mississauga, Ontario (part of the Greater Toronto Area) and I'm 43. I've been diagnosed two years ago, after knowing I was autistic deep inside for a while now.

I've spent these past two years reading a lot, finding myself again, trying to separate what was a mask from who I truly am (with various degrees of success). I do my best to wear my identity with pride and unapologetically (again, with various degrees of success).

Some of my special interests are trivia (I'm a Jeopardy! buff), Magic:The Gathering (specifically the Commander format), history, the Forgotten Realms D&D setting (though I'm not actually a D&D player), social justice (I'm left-leaning and an anti-capitalist).

I'd love to find like-minded peers, remotely or not (although I would especially like to find people close to me).

And regarding "I do my best to wear my identity with pride and unapologetically"... I think that is a good idea.

People unfamiliar with the Autism Spectrum might have improper expectations about it. I know I did! Before 2019 my entire knowledge on the topic was based upon commercials for the movie Rain Man...in other words, I was clueless. When I started learning about Autism and that I was Autistic my preconceived expectations were smashed.

Perhaps if I had known a variety of openly Autisic people throughout my life I would have known that each Autistic person is different and not to prejudge them.

So, I agree. I mention my Autism sometimes when I really don't need to.
