Hello, everyone. I'm new here. Just joined. After years of being misdiagnosed with a variety of psychiatric diagnoses, I found out that I am actually Autistic/Asperger's. I'm trying to learn as much as I can right now from others who share my condition.

Some of my Aspie behaviors include:
Auditory Processing Dysfunction (I understand writen much better than verbal)
Problems feeling physical pain
Problems regulating body temperature
Tactile preoccupations (I like wearing certain things because they produce euphoric states. Also like wearing excessive layers of certain clothing items)
"Deep pressure" cravings (strong hugs, tight jackets, weighted clothing, etc)
Low tolerance for socializing, prefer solitude

I am fortunate to have a supportive family that provides me a strong support system. People generally like me, even though they consider me "eccentric". My most difficult area of struggle seems to be in forming and maintaining relationships. I feel very disconnected from others. I feel most comfortable communicating by internet.

Love & Hugs,
ManyLayers

Hello, ManyLayers...

Welcome to WP :D .

I can relate to you in wanting to wear heaps of layers of the same clothing. Last winter I used to sleep in six layers which my mother thought I was literally insane haha.

Greetings, ManyLayers!

You may find many layers here as well, and many people with at least some similar experiences and ways of being.

May you find good information, inspiration, companionship, comfort and goof humor here at Wrong Plant.

So, explore.

You are welcome.

Hi Many Layers, just wanted to welcome you to WP, I'm new also and love it here. I have a 6 year old autistic daughter and all her therapists told me I was AS (the tests say "Yes..very) Anyway... her OT suggested not only a weighted blanket, but also the "Foof Chair"(7 foot long memory foam beanbag loveseat) You can find them online since you sorta sink into them you get the pressure feeling all around you while you sleep. Am trying to find someone to ship to Alaska, Sears is cheapest so far. Trying to get her to sleep without burrowing under the couch cushions. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. I also have adapted pretty well and am just known as "The weirdo" which I'm cool w/ cause I AM weird.
