Hello hello,

I figured I would join this forum so that I would have a place to communicate with like-minded people. I used to be in the IRC channel under a different name.

A bit about me:

I'm 41 years old, living in Northern California. My school suggested I was somewhere on the spectrum when I was in my early teens, and since then I was on various IRC support groups about autism and Asperger's. Around 2001, I was diagnosed with Asperger's, but it wasn't officially recorded. I recently got tested again (for an official diagnosis) and was diagnosed with Level 2 autism.

I am employed (yay) at a public library part-time. It's not much, but I was going stir crazy when I was on SSI. My interests are old computers, languages, history, and learning about different cultures. I'm single and when I am not at work I normally keep to myself.

Anyways, nice to meet you all (Or maybe nice to see you again?)

Welcome to the planet QL.
(My mum was a public librarian. At the age of 7 I was given free run of the stacks [which included the restricted section] and I got first dibs on the withdrawn. I'm sure I still have some in my collection)

Thank you for the kind welcomes.

A few small details/more info:

Despite my name, I am not exactly a librarian, though QuirkyLibrarian rolls off the tongue better than QuirkyLevelTwoLibraryTechnicalAssistant, and it is easier for me to type. I have been considering going back to college to get a higher position within the library, but at the same time, I had trouble with school in the past and am apprehensive.

I worked at several different jobs as well, some more successful than others. My favorite among them (as well as best paying) was when I was delivering pizzas for a major chain (the name has a game theme) in a small town in Idaho. The hours sucked (I was working 65+ hour work weeks), but it was fun, and most of it involved driving. I also worked briefly as a tax preparer/accountant, and I had a very short stint in Walmart. Needless to say, I have experience and a lot of tales to tell.

Speaking of small towns in states that are not California, I would love to either move back to Idaho, or move to another small town somewhere. California sucks. Give me a small town that is just barely big enough for a Walmart, one or two chain supermarkets, and a hospital within a short drive.

Finally, in case anyone was wondering, my previous username (which I mostly used on IRC) was Sir_Paul. There's a chance you might know me by that name. Or not. Either or.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a great day! :)

We obviously have different definitions for "small town"
2 supermarkets?

To me a small town is a general store/post office and a petrol station.

I fully understand. In an ideal world, I would prefer a much smaller town like what you describe (maybe a population of ~500 people), but I don't want to drive over an hour each way to get things I need. Pretty much, what I am saying is I don't want to live in a big city any more. Something with ~10,000 people is fine.
