Welcome to Wild - oops, Wrong Planet. This is a common problem with people who have tried to deal with being told they're weird, they're doing something wrong, they're not trying hard enough, etc. I found out about mine at 50, in March. I had a lot of those issues that a good friend helped me work out several years ago.

Now I'm perfect and it feels good.

After a while, he'll probably accept his condition, and he'll be more ok with it. After all, most aspies I find (including myself) wouldn't have it any other way.

OH and welcome :)

thank-you for your reply's,
the difficult question i have to ask is...how much is this part of having aspergers and how much is it part of his core personality?i have alot of empathy..too much sometimes as often i am taken for a ride with others as i hate anyone suffering....but he really does not seem to have any idea of the impact his behavior has on myself and others...to the point i want to leave to preserve my own sanity!
suzy
p.s,
he has very violent issues.
it scares me but if i give up does that mean i am not giving him a chance to be understood?

Hi peggysuzy. Welcome to WP. :)

I don't have much empathy but I do have sometimes. I can't be someone else but I can feel very sad for them and what they are going through. Particularly if they are someone I know and can identify with.

Hi peggysuzy and Welcome to WP.
I'm not an expert but from everything I've read and observed about Asperger's, it's very unusual for it to be the root cause of a violent reaction.More likely to cause apathy or indifference. It's possible a denial of having AS could initially lead to disproportionate anger, but the most common reaction to learning about AS is usually one of relief and self-awakening.Whatever happens, you needn't feel guilty as you're already doing your best to understand by coming to
WP at least.
