Hey all- I was doing a bit of research online today about aspergers and stumbled on this site! I'm going to let my mom, and my sister with AS know today about it. I admit I did some research b/c I was thinking about one of my fav shows ANTM and how much Heather reminds me of my sister, esp the facial expressions when she is annoyed (eye rolling). My ID here is b/c my sister calls me "sis" sometimes, esp when she's annoyed.
My sister was diagnosed at age 21- having been diagnosed with depression at age 7, ADD a few years later and then OCD. It came to head when she went to college, and her sophmore year she was hospitalized for depression. She had been treated from a young age by a therapist. She lives w/my parents, she is 25 she got her BA a few years ago and works at a chain pharmacy.
I always wondered why my siblings and I had trouble relating to our peers.. I'm quite sure I have some of the shadows of AS. Our father is probably a very high functioning AS, our mother has depression, my bro has depression and some ADD.
My self I'm only dx with depression, but I have trouble paying attention, sitting still, terrible handwriting, incredible clumsiness and relating sometimes. I love my sister and I have to admit I worry about her. She's a great person.
I think my mom kind of put together what she has when her sister started a relationship with a women who has a son with AS. Now he is actually my stepcousin b/c they got married in Massachusetts. He was diagnosed when he was younger and got some extra help early in school

Instrument: I'm hopeless
Do you like sports? I have an interest in gymnastics, did some when I was younger- I wasn't too bad with the tricks but never competed. The beam wasn't my strong point.. I like watching it and ice skating.. I don't mind watching hockey but most other sports I find boring!
Family: I'm married, have 4 cats. Close with my family- Mom, dad, sister is 25, bro is 22. Also have large extended family on mom's side that I'm close with.
Clothing: Mostly wear work clothes, petites.. weekends jeans, casual clothes..

Job: In a nut shell- I work in a courthouse, I act in many ways as a pretrial probation officer, administer the first offender DUI program, and assist the judge in bond decisions by doing record checks and interviewing defendants.
