Another Newbie...

Hello everybody.

My name is Ian and I live in the south east England.

I am here simply because a number of people have made observations over the years concerning my 'unique' (in)ability to interact socially.

More recently the term 'Aspergers Syndrome' was applied to me by a particularly observant work friend of mine.

(Please note that I have always been aware that I was 'different', but just thought I didn't fit in and was naturally inclined to a nihilstic temperament)

I of course looked it up on t'internet and the Wikipedia profile blew my mind. Though I have never gone as far as to seek medical explanations for what I always believed to be problems (in a sense of pretty much some degree of all possible symptons of AS), there is just too much that applies to me for my condition NOT to be AS.

The particular parts that upset me the most were the parts which indicated that I am pretty much beyond help now that I am no longer a child (I am 23).

Thus I am destined always to be socially inept and lack the ability to sustain relationships. Bloody marvellous!

Therefore I am here to learn more on the subject of AS and indeed if anyone can offer any advice over the coming weeks and months on how to better control and cope with the condition.

Anyway, I hope i'm not rambling but thought a bit of background might be helpful.

I look forward to communicating with my fellow 'Aspies' soon.

PS - I am not usually a forum/chatroom kinda guy (the only online conversation I ever indulge in is the rather infrequent MSN conversation) hence the probably rather inappropriate length of this post! I do apologise
