Hey all.

A week ago my parents sat me down and told me they think I have aspergers. Apparently my mum's psych said to her 'your son sounds like he has aspergers', she looked it up on the net, said she was convinced, my dad was convinced. I'm not so certain, but I definetly have a lot of the traits involved.

I'm 19, a poet (at university studying it), like music, especially 80's and 90's alternative/indie.

Probably should have waited for a diagnosis before registering, but oh well.

Nice to meet you, Beorn. :)

I'm Jerry.

I'm also 19 and in college at a mid-major university.

Oh cause I didn't recognise some of the symptoms in me. I didn't realise that I avoided eye contact (I mostly do, but not in all cases), didnt realise that i go on long winded monologues that sometimes have no real conclusion/point.

I've been terrible in social situations for most of my life, but have been getting much better for the past couple of years. And some of the more prominent symptoms I just do not have.

But I have the vast majority of symptoms, so I don't know, maybe. I just don't want to go self diagnosing is all

BeornJ: we are not a cutout, that is, many don't share the same symptoms. Some aspies like to go out and dress nicely and some girls like to wear makeup! Crazy!
hehe :P

Ahh Eire has good taste, my taste, well done.

I'll tell you my symptoms then:

I definetly have the sensory thing. I put on the fan, even during winter, to drown out the noises of the night so I can get to sleep, and sometimes the fan makes a creaking noise, which makes it impossible to sleep.

I only like a few types of food, have them all the time, but even within things I like I only like certain brands.

I love my alone time. I want to live alone, work alone.

Had a terrible time of social interaction for most of my life (slightly better lately) was very awkard, for all of high school I sat by myself listening to music.

Took me ages to learn how to ride a bike, but I was quite good at sports. Was great at tennis, won lots of tournaments, and was okay at hockey (field hockey to you yanks)

Welcome to Wrong Planet.
We're all unique, the thing about being on the spectrom is that everyone is affected differently. From your discription you seem like you'd have a moderate to mild case.

Welcome. Out of curiosity, is Beorn a reference to the guy in "The Hobbit" that turned into a giant bear? I haven't read that book since 8th grade, so I'm not sure. As far the music, I'm a big fan of 90's alternative rock. Its very nostalgic for me. Good to meet ya.
