I'm a 24 y/o man with AS living in the UK. I'm currently training to be a teacher, which I know is an odd profession for someone like me, but I'm really enjoying it.

I'm sick of hearing AS desrcibed as a disability by people I'm ten times smarter than.

Welcome to the board.

Odd as it might seem, we have several teachers on board. Right now we have a thread on what it takes to become a special education teacher. I think its in the work forum.

Again, welcome.

(Can I call you "@"?)

You think it's odd to be a teacher on the spectrum, try being on the radio! It's an equally "inappropriate" choice for us, but I've done it for almost 11 years now. Here's to you and all the others who don't believe in the word "disability".

That is so true. I wonder how they would like it if THEY were called disabled.

btw, I go by "spidermonkey" on other forums, so when I saw you post, I got disoriented and thought I was somewhere else on the web
