The occasional poll is nice, but it's getting a bit obsessive around here lately....

I have a teacher who's worse, so I don't mind. He'll turn every political question into a poll. What's going on here is a bit more interesting.

Even if some polls annoy you, it's unfair to stop everyone from making them.

In America, we have the right to free speech. I have not been offended by any polls. Long live the polls.

Unless the polls start being used to attack members, I don't see any reason to disable them. They are completely harmless. Even if most are pointless and getting annoying.

Yeah, shut them down then we won't get anymore... are you a "******* personality" anymore. Those ones are ticking me off. It's just stupid.

I don't see anything annoying about the polls. I'm sure you're referring specifically to the polls I created regarding personality traits. I wanted to see how my fellow aspies rated themselves on the various personality styles/disorders. This, of course, can't be done in one thread. It allows me to form a more accurate idea of the general personality distribution here.

I don't really understand how a certain thread could work someone up so much. It's really no effort at all to just keep browsing.

Personality psychology and abnormal psychology is one of my areas of perseverative interest. To me, it's a matter of curiosity.

I just love the irony of asking about polls with...a poll.

There is something queer about liking the poll. Not that there's anything wrong with it.

You're referring to a different kind of poll, I think. Maybe it's spelled pole, actually.

actually, i was considering a poll on "have you a personality at all?" for people to come up with their own (far fetched and amusing) personality disorders. sounds even more like a good idea now...

Don't worry. It wasn't a serious suggestion. It was just a knee-jerk reaction to coming to the forum and finding it flooded with polls, much like opening my email and seeing nothing but Viagra ads. I ignore both, generally. It just leads to the question "I this really neccessary?" FWIW, these polls are statistically meaningless because the respondents are self-selecting. If you had a poll that asked "have you ever read a thread that contained a poll" then the response could only be 100% "yes", but that doesn't mean everyone on here is reading those threads.... There's nothing wrong with being curious about the personality types on here, but I don't think your conclusions (as stated in another thread) are likely to be very accurate at all.

do you know, i have never had spam about viagara, or about making my penis larger. i'm feeling left out! or am i? nah, come to think of it. why do i appear to be exempt from this sort of thing, though?
