Well, I think it's time for me to get up the nerve to introduce myself.

I guess you could say that I am semi-diagnosed with AS -- the psychologist I am seeing finally decided that I "probably" had it. I'm not sure that an official diagnosis will really change anything -- when I first read about Asperger's I couldn't believe how closely it described so many aspects of my life. And, as I think someone has said here before, reading this forum is like finally meeting members of my own species.

Thanks,
Aeryn

Welcome to WrongPlanet, Aeryn! Getting an official doesn't change things that much, but it does bring some relief and closure. :)

greetings!
i have also had the "probably" brush-off in the past. it's frustrating because they don't seem to understand how it effects every little detail of your life- it's not just something that you experience some times but not others. in fact, one could say that psychologists suffer from a lack of empathy!
anyway, welcome to wrong planet, i'm new too and i hope you enjoy participating on the site as much as i do.

Yo! What's up? Welcome.

Hey, I do agree. A diagnosis doesn't change much. But, you can take advantage of your diagnosis to get the treatment you need, and you can figure out a little more about yourself.

Have a good time here. I'm new too, haven't got 100 posts yet, and I still need improving. Good luck. Don't let evil walk behind you!

Hi Aeryn,

I've enjoyed WP very much, and I'm sure that you're going to enjoy it as well. I remember I haven't even come in contact purposefully with another person with AS until I visited this site! I know that feeling, like you're where you belong and such. Anyways, welcome to WP.

LOL, actually, I've never even *seen* Farscape -- I don't think we get it here. The name was an product of my twisted mind that resulted from the incredibly annoying way that most people in the area I live pronounce my real name. Oh well, so much for being original  .

Thank you all so much for the welcome! The "probably" diagnosis is something of a relief -- I've spent most of my life either being called the evil R word, or being told "You're too smart to act this crazy." The final verdict will likely come this thursday.

Exactly.... (*suppresses rant on the hypocrisy and general insanity of most
psychiatry/psychology*)

Oh yeah, welcome! Make yourself cozy and avoid Vertivert at all costs... unless you *really* like newts!

*chuckles evilly*
