I happened on this site when I did a google search. I've been reading through the articles and forum posts for a few days.

I'm 38, married (for the second time) to a very tolerant NT woman, and we have a 2 year old son who has already been diagnosed with AS/PDD (heredity is a b***h). I work as a webmaster and am passionate about designing music instruments.

I found out about AS nearly 3 years ago when trying to figure out what the hell was wrong with me. I'm setting up an appointment with a mental health professional to seek an official diagnosis for myself. I guess I just need to hear it from someone with a plaque on their office wall.

It's somewhat comforting to know that there are people out there who experience some of the same things I do, and I appreciate the courage of those who have bared their souls here. Maybe someday I'll have the fortitude to do it myself.
