Hi. I'm Vincent. I'm new here. 7555 days old. And Swedish. I'm also laconic. Except when I overcompensate, which tends to lead to more of an awkward tangential rambling sort of deal, which is also a pretty accurate description of my music. Oh, sorry, yeah, I'm a musician/writer/hermit. I didn't choose the last bit, it's just that people are so difficult to interact with. Especially when they're drunk, which most Swedes are when they want to be interacted with. So I end up just avoiding people altogether. Probably not the best idea ever, but then again the best idea ever was Joss Whedon's "Firefly", and that didn't even last for one season. Oh, did I mention I'm a bit of a geek? My current obsession is storytelling. Mostly in the form of movies, TV series and comics. So most of my money (of which I really don't have much coming in) goes to buying DVD's and TPB's. I've studied film for three years at a school with almost no resources followed by a one year creative writing course, and I've written a pseudoscience metafiction comedy screenplay, which I'm gonna rewrite a few times before I show it to anyone important. My dream is to go to Toronto Film School, but that seems unlikely to happen unless I get some kind of huge scholarship. Um. What was I talking about? Oh, right. Hi.

Hi Vince,

Welcome to WP.

I'm not a Joss Whedon fan - don't like Buffy etc....

But I loved Firefly and Serenity.... wow.

Typical US TV Networks - They cancel anything I find remotely interesting. The only two US TV shows I've watched in the lastl five? years are Firefly and Carnivale. Both were massacred.

At least I can fall back on the brits for Dr Who.

Hi Vincent,

Welcome to WP.

I don't think it's just the Swedish who like to drink...you would be surprised at how many people in New Zealand [where I am] I see drunk daily!...quite a few! I too, don't like interacting with the drunk...I avoid nights and hide away in my bedroom.

Anyway...what instruments do you play? I can play the drums quite well...a few others I've half-taught myself.

I hope you get into Toronto Film School, it would be good. Apply for a scholarship...you never know, you could wind up getting it!

I hope you enjoy posting here.

Yeah. Doctor Who's really good. I must say, though, Buffy was the superior show. Just takes a while to get used to the Buffyverse. I didn't give it a fair chance till I saw the absolutely beautiful musical episode and then I was like "Huh? What? Who is this Joss Whedon person anyway?" and watched the series from beginning to end and realized that it was absolutely brilliant. Felt like an idiot for avoiding it like the plague for years.

Cool, I play the drums aswell, been playing since I was eight (but haven't practiced as much as I should have so I haven't gotten quite as amazing at it as I could've) and I've taught myself the guitar and I'm dabbling in piano (haven't gotten to notes yet, but I plan to figure that stuff out eventually) and pretty much any instrument I can get my hands on, and I also make weird music on my computer, to which I sometimes write lyrics and rap in a silly fashion. I also write song parodies sometimes. Usually with an anti-religious theme for some reason. But I haven't recorded any of those as of yet. Not for fear of the clergy but by sheer laziness. Oh, and I also beatbox.

Howdy,

After careful and very uncareful research on hermit, I've decided I'm a recluse. Choose it? I dunno, maybe. It sure took a long time to be able to do it to the degree I wanted, work and that kind of thing got in the way for a long time. Doesn't matter, I like it and even recluse isn't totally accurate, lets just say a very selective few around me, very few.

So anyway, good to see you. Some really great folks linger and sometimes I think live here.

Hey Vincent,

The film world is kinda cool. I am into lighting, I have a friend that studies cinematography at the AFI filmschool in L.A., that school is amazing, the students get lectures from famous people like David Lynch and Al Pacino (I would like to go to that school, but its kinda way too expensive for me). Last year she did her thesis film (35mm black/white with professional crew), I went to help her out as a grip, it was an amazing experience (there was one day of shooting on the backlot of Universal).
Belgium is a little country with a small film industry, so being in Hollywood was totally amazing, so many activity and lots of facilities.
How is the film industry in Sweden?

Some time ago, I made an animated comedy short movie with puppets (I got inspiration from Team America, very funny movie), you should check it out (its on the myspace site of my friend), its called Space Chronicles.

I am not that good in writing a story, but I am more visual.

Anyway, I wish you a lot of succes in the film world.

Embarrassing, for the most part. Not a lot of movies being made, not a lot of money to make them for, and the Swedish language isn't very expressive, so there tends to be lots of unnatural dialogue, melodrama and over-acting to make up for it. I tend to avoid watching Swedish film for this reason. I also tend to avoid writing in Swedish as I never can seem to get the dialogue right. It always comes out either way too laconic or way too over the top and I can't for the life of me write a funny or cool line in Swedish.

Well, you did great with the visual stuff. I liked it.

Isn't there like a big Swedish porn industry, or is it just a myth? :D

Denmark has Larn Von Trier, he makes great movies (did you see dancer in the dark?) and Thomas Vinterberg (Festen), but thats the only big Danish directors I know, so not that much for Denmark either

I think the US/UK is the best place to be to make movies.
