Hi, I'm new to this forum. Anyway, I guess I'll tell a little about myself...I'm 29, live in the Boston area, and as you probably would guess, have Asperger's syndrome. I think that I have accomplished quite a bit for someone with AS...I have a master's degree, have a relatively decent paying job, and am very independent with somewhat of a social network. However, on the flip side, I am very disappointed as well. I was only in one relationship in my life, but it only lasted a little over three months (basically, my ex told me that she cannot emotionally handle me and my ways; it ended about four months ago). My current job is very mundane and provides no challenge. I am still having difficulties with small talk and communicating (although they have been improving), and I just find it very frustrating that even though I continuously am able to get first dates, outside that one relationship, I have never been able to get a second date. I know my situation is not as bad as those as others with AS...I'm not denying that. However, it is disheartening to me that I am so close to "normalcy", yet cannot seem to get over the hump. Hopefully this message board can help me out, so I'm looking forward to continuing to post!
