Hi David,
welcome to WP.
What kind of things do you write? I like writing too...but mainly poetry as I can never stick to one idea when writing stories haha.
Yea high school is probably the worst place for any person on the spectrum [especially if it's one of those "one size fits all' kind of public school]. It's good that the staff at your collage are understanding of your AS.
I haven’t been writing (as a hobby) for long. I decided to take it up a few months ago as I enjoy using words creatively and some of my collage tutors have commented on the quality of my essays, so I started doing some fanfiction so that I can do something creative along with my drawing. I chose to do Warhammer 40K fan-fiction as it lets you create your own characters and storylines while having plenty of 40K background to work from, plus I'm collecting 40K (Tau and Orks). I did start collecting about 3 years go, but I quit due the the ridiculous cost; but a few months ago I started collecting again as I can now afford to be ripped-off.
And as for my high school, they did have a room and staff for people with learning disabilities, but that was a very basic room and some of the staff would patronise me, maybe because they also worked with a lot of people with low-functioning disorders such as Downs syndrome. But now at my collage the room is dedicated to people with autism and more specifically Aspersers, and the staff are a lot more understanding respectful. Plus the room has received a lot of money and support from the Principle and the local MP, giving the room and students there a lot more space and recourses to work and relax with.
