Hi everyone,

I'm new here and I just wanted to introduce myself. I stumbled across a documentary on Asperger's a few days ago and later found this site. I am not completely certain that I am an Aspie, however, after doing further research i've noticed that I have several similarities to people with Asperger's.

I've always felt like an outsider and have had trouble making friends and socializing with people. I was bullied pretty much all through school and I had a few very unsympathetic teachers. In addition, I had problems with my motor skills early on; I was unable to write legibly until I was 12 and required a therapist, and it took me much longer to learn things such as tying my shoes and riding a bicycle. I think I was about 10. I still have some very obvious tics (especially my eyes) and I stutter sometimes and it makes social situations awkward.

I have a lot of trouble talking to people unless I am comfortable around them and I often miss many of the verbal and non-verbal signals that people send. When I was like 16 I got diagnosed with anxiety and I get the occassional panic attack too. I'm in university and that presents issues among itself with staying organized and other things. Anyway, I look forward to learning more.

Peace,

Kevin

Gday kevin, and welcome.

Even if you don't have asperger's your welcome here. You'll find out soon enough that it doesn't really matter. If you don't you'll get lots of sympathy and some tips on overcoming the same problems an Aspie has to over come. And if you do have it... well you'll get loads of sympathy and some tips on overcoming the same problems other Aspies have to over come.

Either way, enjoy your stay here and most of all enjoy your learning process about Asperger's and, more importantly, yourself.
