Hi! I just introduced myself over on the parenting board, but I figured I should say HAIII! over here too.
I'm an NT mom to two NT kids and a (currently screaming) sweet PDD-NOS boy. I'm very excited to have found this very informative site!
My son Adam was diagnosed PDD-NOS when he was 3 1/2 and he is almost 6 now. He is similar to Aspie in a lot of ways, but he has a significant language delay. He is intelligent but has a lot of behavorial issues. Still, he's a healthy, hearty, happy boy, much of the time. (not right now, as he is fighting bedtime!)
My husband and I are currently trying to decide what to do about schooling for him: the public school is pushing us to integrate him with the "normal" kids, but we really question if that is a good idea. There are a lot of reasons we don't want to just throw the poor guy in a public school, but the main thing is that his behavoral issues are just too bad for him to be in a public school. Anyway, I'd appreciate any possible thoughts, information, ideas, whatever that you'd like to share regarding autism and schooling. What's your experience?
Nice to "meet" you all...
