I have refused throughout my life to ever admit to the word 'lonely'. Isolated oh very much yes, but never lonely. Perhaps its because I only ever feel lonely when among other people and right now I cannot recall being happy when among others - never ever really easy free and 'floating. I avoid groups, pubs, throngs, cliques, clubs, shops, gatherings, like the plague. Except however when its to do with my business, then I have my business hat on and am reasonably confident and can be the master of the situation.

To get back to your point - you have my sympathy - it must be hellish after losing someone that you bundled up so much with. At least there are plenty of people in your geographical state/location, so good hunting. How its done I've no idea. I never had any friends to take me out apart from a couple of months in my late teens when in lodgings. Now I'm fifty.

Ditto to all that you say, I am not far off from fifty and still have no real close friends, but the odd few back in the UK from when younger... lucky I have a family I guess.. sometimes do wish had more time alone to be in my own creative little world. But I also am not really lonely, do tend to isolate myself too much at times.. wouldn't worry if did not have a family, as after spending far to long trying to fit in and now know it just does not work. I am enjoying just being me. :D
