Hi,
I am an aspie too, and was only diagnosed a year ago. Since, I have been looking it up on the net and only after 10 months ignoring it, because of the too many other activities. I have started googling after having seen the movie 'The Musical' on autism made by Kirby, on HBO yesterday. I am a Belgian Flemish artist living in Peru. I am high functional as they call it, and did my registration here today and also did the test for aspies. I got 155 on 200 and for NT 61 on 200...
Just in a few hours I realized there was such a thing as an alphabet soup and discoered what NT is. God, we do label ourselves and others, don't we?
As an artist (I sing, dance, paint, write) -I should be thankful to my aspie qualities -( that is those that are positive qualities, I suppose)-, but having read through different blogs online and having observed the kid in the movie I couldn't help the flow of tears, as I realized how much I had in common and how I wished I had been diagnosed 40 years ago, how much would I have not let down people and peole not have let down me.
Noises drive me crazy, in buses traveling in Peru where loud vdos are on for as long as a bus ride lasts (sometimes for 10 or 15 hrs), I have fights about it with people and yet I like good music, which has to be loud sometimes to enjoy it...I have many other things that drive other NTs nuts, but I'll tell this some other time.
Recently I got in volved in shamanism, and I do organise or participate in rituals with hallucinogenics, sacred plants here in the jungle like ayahuasca or san Pedro and pot. I noticed a big shift in my brain and emotional functions, I tend to go into a trance and communicate with the spirits, but when in trance with my partner (as an observer) I seem to be able (in trance) to touch her and be nice to her and not so aloof. (I am gay, but live with a woman, the same woman who worked with Aspies and who diagnosed me.)
Did any other aspie have experience with similar things? It make s me want to be on hallucinogenics more, because I am more charming a person and much nicer with people around me.
Thank you if you reply to me
